Use it or LOSE it!!!

As I was cleaning off my scrap desk today, I became inspired. Everyone has tons of scrap "scraps", me included, and it was tons of these scraps (from the August kit) that covered my desk..... cardstock, patterned paper, left over embellies, etc. So instead of tucking away all these things that I may never use, I got an idea! I decided to create a page using only these scraps or any other scraps that may be within my reach- the catch is, if I don't use it.... I lose it! I have to throw it away!!! I am famous for "saving" my scraps, almost always NEVER to use them again, so this forced me to make a decision. Oh yeah, I created the layout with NO photo in mind, I searched for that when I was almost done with the page (do you know how freeing it is to create a layout with NO pressure of a photo????) So here's what I came up with.......

I used the black cardstock because it was the only full sheet I could reach from my seat, everything else was just leftovers from working with the August kit.
When I was done, I threw out the rest..... all of the mid and small sized pieces of paper, the few left over chipboard shapes, even the small handful of Thickers ( GASP, I know, I know.... but what can you really spell with no vowels but "u" and no "r's" , "d's" or "t's")

The result...... one more page completed, a CLEAN desk and less clutter! If any of you give this a try, post a link and share it with us, I'd love to see what you do!

This is a great LO, Lisa!! I save everything, like you to use, but most times not. There is a rare occasion. Or, I give them to my DD. I am not as good as Heather. She uses every little scrap of paper in her kit, and finishes it before the next one reaches her mailbox!! I wish I was that good!! I am almost embarrassed to say how many partial kits I still have!! I do use them!! ;) just need to finish those partial ones.

Great idea, Lisa. The finished project looks awesome, too!

Love the layout...I've been gone far too long...haven't scrapped for awhile and I've missed you guys dearly....I'll be checking on what you have been up to...scrapping day on Friday! :) Thanks for sharing the idea of using up your scraps!

You threw it away!?!? Chipboard shapes? Oh, Lisa, I literally gasped out loud when I read that. LOL. I have a hard time throwing away anything. After I'm done with a kit (and there are only odd bits left) I sort them into my somewhat-organized stash. I just love your thinking, though, about use it or lose it. And this LO is a complete masterpiece as a result! Maybe I will change my hoarding ways someday???

I am with Brook on this one - I gasped when I read your post = you threw it away, leftover chipboard and thickers .....oh the horrors. I can understand your thinking - but I save everything also. I give most of my leftovers to my daughter in law - she loves my unused products. I will have to try this - only my unused pieces will go into Sylvia's box - not the trash.

I think that's Thicker abuse!
