3rd Sneak Peek for BlaCk FrIDay KiT

End of November Designer Challenge

Hey you guys, It's Jenny checking in with you. It's my turn to encourage our ever-faithful Mosh Posh members with a little challenge. In order to qualify for the random drawing for a RAK provided by yours truly, you need to use a whole bunch (7o%) of mosh-posh goodies and create a layout including the following:

5 embellies
4 stickers
3 patterned papers
2 pictures and
1 non-scrappy goody

Entries are due in the member gallery by midnight (anywhere) on December 5th. We'll draw a name the next morning for me to send out my rak. Can't wait to see what you all come up with! Stay tuned for "Jenny's Flood the Gallery" party coming up in January. Til next time!

New checkbook cover

Hi everyone! Lisa K. here with another quick fun project with the November kit. A little over a year ago I made a checkbook cover with one of my Mosh Posh kits, and it was getting a little, um.... ratty! And since I loved the colors in this kit so much, I thought it might be time for another. It was a super simple little project- it took me 15 whole minutes, but it was fun and I love it- so here it goes.....

*You can buy these clear checkbook covers thru Scrappin' Sports and More (at least that's where I got mine).

1- I cut a piece of patterned paper approximately 6 1/4" x 6 3/4" for the background.

2- Then I cut a piece of a complimentary pp 1" x 6 1/4", inked and added to the top and bottom
of the 1st sheet.
3- I spelled out our name with stickers on a piece of cs and trace the letters (I used the
Oct. Afternoon letters from the add-ons).

4- Then I inked and adhered our name to the background paper.

5- And placed embellishment in front of our name.

THEN....... I flipped the paper UPSIDE DOWN so both sides are right side up when the cover is done :)

6- I added another 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" scrap piece of complimentart pp, inked and adhered it to the
"back" of the cover.
7- I then matted a small photo of each of our kids to a piece of cs, inked it and added to the back
cover, popped on a sticker and.....that's it!

November Sketch

It's time for a little inspiration! How about a sketch to get those creative juices flowing? :)

We decided on a "Home" theme for the gallery this month because the kit has all of those cute little houses and trees on the papers. Plus, autumn is a time for baking, nesting & decorating, snuggling up on the couch, and just simply being at home with the ones we love. Because of that, I decided to continue that theme with our sketch this month! The sketch uses one vertical 4x6 photo and journaling (or quotes about home) around the outside of the page. Here it is:

This is what I chose to do with the skecth: I followed it pretty closely, except that I didn't have any journaling other than my little saying in the MM mini alphas.

And here's what a few of the DT ladies did with the sketch:
Lisa C:

Lisa H:

Estee:

I love how they all made it their own by tweaking a few things. Lisa C made the house a tree instead, Lisa H flipped the photo to horizontal, and Estee moved the title. We'd love to see what you can do with this sketch, too! Link to your layouts in the comments or upload to our new member's gallery:
HERE.

Happy Monday!

Let's Check Out Some of Our Awesome Members!!!

It's time for our Member Spotlight!! Have you noticed that we have a *new* member gallery? Kristen has changed the whole site and we are loving it! Now we just need to get some layouts uploaded in the gallery! I admit, I am guilty of not uploading too. Let's work on that, shall we?

Two of our awesome members have uploaded layouts and I want to share them with you!

This beautiful layout is from Aimee (carolinagirl). She has been rocking the gallery and this is my favorite recent layout of hers. I love the scalloped edge and how she used the rub-ons. Beautiful job, Aimee!!!

This butterfly album is from Sarah! According to the description that she added, she used the lyrics from a Sheryl Crow song. Isn't that a cool idea? This was a very special album that she made as a gift and her love shines through in every detail. Thanks so much for sharing this with us, Sarah!!

That's it from me this month. I hope to see lots of new layouts in the coming month! What do you think of this layout and mini-album?? Gorgeous, right???

Mosh Posh is looking for an Experienced Graphic Designer.

Please click here for more details

Some cards made with the October Kit......

I made these cards using the October Kit...the colors were so beautiful as were the stamps. For this card I used the stamp across the card and then cut the butterflies out of the pattern paper and adhered with a 3-D pop up. I also used my border bunch to punch a piece of the pattern paper and adhered it to the bottom of the card. I loved the twisty ribbon that came in the kit too!
For this one I cut a shape out of the pattern paper, adhered a butterfly and love that maya road clear ribbon with the black design - again so pretty with these colors.

I am not a card maker...12x12 layouts and minis are more my style...but with this kit and the beautiful colors and products.....it was so easy!!
Also, check out the Mosh Posh Site for the November Kit....it's wonderful and you are going to love it!!

Just a Peek

Seeing as my webisode has been a bit delayed due to technical difficulties. I thought I would share a sneak peek of my scrap room today. Before my hubby built my first scrap room, I spent countless hours researching others' rooms for ideas. By the time it was time to complete mine, I had it all figured out. We recently moved and we had to set up a new scrap room which we designed and put together in no time.

I know one embellishment that we all have that can be a bit tricky to organize...ribbon. If I have a ton of one manufacturer, I tend to organize my product that way. You'll see in the second picture, I've left those brands on the spools and put them in drawers from ikea. They're the Kassett (white) ones. For everything else I've taken the ribbon from the spools or cards and wound them on ribbon cards from Magistical Memories (the chipboard people). I do this by the color wheel from pink to red to orange through purple to browns, blacks, and multis. The card come in many sizes for different widths of ribbon. I purchased the 1/2", 3/4", and 1". The boxes (orange) that I use to store the cards are from Target's One Spot years ago. Cropper Hopper makes similar ones that would be perfect.
Hope you got some ideas for organizing YOUR ribbon stash. Talk to you soon with some more from my Scrap Room.

October 2008 Sketch

I decided to create a simple sketch so everyone could have lots of options. And since I like to include more than one photo on a layout, I used 3 picture blocks, each one measuring 3x3. My example is titled Cheese. I used one of the Maya Road stamps to frame my journaling block, and I changed the placement of the title and the paper strip. For more examples check out the Mosh Posh Gallery under liftable layouts.

Showing Detail

I love the little Maya Road butterfly chipboard album that comes in October's kit!

When I first pulled it out, I immediately noticed the detail on the butterfly that makes up the front cover. I wanted to alter it in a way where that detail would be visible.

Obviously covering it with paper was not an option. I could leave it natural but how much fun is that??!

I decided to paint it, drawing out the depth and contour of the butterfly.

For my paint, I chose a tapioca color. I gave it two coats.

Once the coats were dry, I took a sanding file and lightly when over the edges and across the top. This sanded off some of the paint on the outline, leaving the inside part of the butterfly in tact.

The dimension effect this gave was wonderful.

I hope you have time this week to get out your paints and play. Be sure to share your creations with us on-line at Mosh Posh!

I Told You I Was Giddy

Several posts ago, I mentioned that I had this wee problem with Basic Grey's patterned papers. Well, that's a good thing because October's Mosh Posh kit(now available) was chock full of it. In addition to the projects that I posted in the gallery I made quite a few other things with the super amazing Ambrosia line. Thought I would share some other ideas for using YOUR Ambrosia papers.

This first page practically made itself. The Ambrosia papers just scream look at me. Those diecut papers that you know we've all bought and hoarded are just perfect to display these patterns. All you need is a pencil and a good pair of tiny scissors. Just add a few pieces of the BG paper and some embellies. Voila.

I also made this miniBook using half of a 7Gypsies accordion album (from an older mosh posh kit) and some ClearScraps acrylics (you know the one's Ali E. is using). I had too much fun putting it together. Can you tell this is my favorite season? The BG Ambrosia papers are PERFECT for your pumpkin patch papers. Take a look.

Hope you enjoyed a peek at a couple of my ideas for the lovely fall season using some of the new BG papers. Until next time.

Member Gallery Spotlight is On

Happy Sunday Evening Everyone. It's Jenny here checking in after another whirlwind weekend around our crazy household. The first thing I do after I tuck the kiddos in each evening is to check out my favorite scrapbooking blogs and galleries for inspo. Tonight as I settled onto the couch with my oldest, I explored our very own Mosh Posh Member Gallery. I found plenty of inspiration there using our yummy kits and goodies from our store.

The first project that caught my eye was by Aimee (carolinagirl):

I adore how Aimee truly thought outside of the box on this one. She took the Maya Road key chain sheers and turned them into a wonderful Fall home decor item. Just love this.

Next up has to be Lisette (lam):

Lisette really knows how to rock her layers. I love the edges both distressed and hand cut. And don't get me started on her heartfelt journaling. Thanks so much for sharing your work with us, Lisette.

Another stunning layout in our Member Gallery is by mpmyers:
I love the photo used here. It's just one of those priceless pictures that screams "Scrap Me". And the way mpmyers paired it with these warm colors from September's kit. It really is wonderful and will be cherished for years to come.
Well, that's this month's Member Gallery Spotlight. Remember, next month this could be you. Just stop by the gallery and enjoy our member's work and add some of your own Mosh Posh creations.
Til next time! Jenny

September Challenge!

It's challenge time again!!! YAY!!!

And let me tell you, this is going to be a FUN one. I think you'll really really really like it. But first, let's just have a little refresher about the challenges (consider this a small commercial):

1. Everyone who participates in the challenge (according to the rules/parameters) will be included in a random drawing at the end of the month for a yummy RAK from the designer (that'd be me). FYI: RAK's are Random Acts of Kindness... in this case that means LOTS OF SCRAPBOOKING GOODIES.

2. Anyone can participate with any scrapbooking product but if you want to be in the drawing for the RAK you must use supplies from your MP kits. Try to use at least 70% MP stuff.

Ok, now that we have that all cleared up let's move on to the fun stuff.

***This month's challenge is to scraplift a Design Team layout from this month's September gallery!***

I had a blast picking one of these awesome layouts to lift. They were ALL so rich with ideas and cool techniques. The one I chose was Amy's "relections" page. I loved how she used the petals from the big flowers to make foliage on the branches from the owl paper.

Here is Amy's layout:

And here is my lift:

I loved everything about her page, so I kept much of it the same. You can be more flexible with your lift, though. And please lift any page that "speaks" to you in our Sept. Gallery! Can't wait to see what you create.

Here is a link to the Design Team Gallery: SEPTEMBER GALLERY. Pick one out and start scrapping! You can link to your completed layout here in the comments (or in our challenges thread: HERE) or upload it to our member's gallery. P.S. In a few days I'll give you all a glimpse of your incentive in the challenges forum on the message board, so keep your eyes peeled. ;)

Have fun!!!

Let's get close, shall we??

Hi Mosh-Posh'ers...Amy, here, and it's my turn to get you excited about this month's rockin' kit!!

I just love the color combos this month (Pink Paislee has done it again with Harvest Moon) and chose to go w/ the sun coral cardstock as the base for this 8.5x11 LO. My title is "bright eyes" and corresponds nicely to the photograph of my oldest daughter, Olivia. The Fashion script stickers are awesome - the font is just so cool. But to make the letters stand out a bit more against the turquoise of the Jenni Bowlin crepe paper ribbon (folded over to make ruffles), I decided to outline them w/ my trusty white Sharpie. I cut a circle out of the middle of the Blue Moon die cut paper leaving just the scalloped edge. It makes for a perfect "boundary" for this LO. My journaling strips were cut from the bottom of the Night Owl paper (which means I can still use Mr. Owl for another project!). Here's the whole LO:

Kristen also included two sheets of the Cosmo Cricket Fleruiste blackboard - so many different shapes and flourishes it was hard to choose!! I ended up using a few swooshes on the bottom right corner of the photo. Then I took one of the Bazzill flowers and grabbed it in the middle to gather it all up. I stapled the center then placed it, flat, on the cardstock (the flower looks completely flat in the pic above b/c I scanned that image. IRL, the flower is nice and poofy!!). Finally, a Chatterbox artsy-licious Splendid Treasure finishes off the accent:

To tie it all together, I added another Bazzill flower in the upper left corner with a piece of the blackboard and a Chatterbox epoxy button on top with a piece of hemp string to add some interest:And there you have it - one of my favorite LO's in a long time. It was quick and easy and turned out fabulous thanks to this great kit!!! Remember to upload your creations to the Member Gallery. Can't wait to see what you create!!

Falling in Love All Over Again

Happy Sunday Everyone! It's Jenny here with something for you to do. I know you are just like me and are waiting with baited breath for all the new goodies from CHA to start arriving on your doorstep. While we wait oh so patiently, I want you to do me a favor. I want you to look at something in your stash and do like i did. Fall in love all over again.

I'm really almost giddy waiting for the new Basic Grey papers to get here. I have been a BG junkie for years now. As I stalked the USPS truck, I pulled out my Cropper Hopper filled to the brim with some of the older stuff. I went way back to the Lollipop Shoppe line for this layout. These colors are so dang yummy. And boy did they work perfectly with my daughter's first day of preschool clothes and gear.

Can you do this for me? Whether it's a long-established manufacturer you're waiting for like me or a newer company or just a type of goodie (rub-ons, letter stickers, etc.). Look to your stash for something that reminds you of that much anticipated arrival. I'd love to see what YOU chose to fall in love with again. Please link me here.

August Sketch

Hey!!! It's Brook just tuning in to share some inspiration! Every month, one of the DT members drafts up a sketch and 2 or 3 of us use it to make one of our layouts in the gallery (these are usually found in the "liftable layouts" category). Here's what I came up with:

This month's sketch is a simple layout using a single 5x7 photo. Because I never can seem to leave enough room for journaling, I planned for lots of space on the right side of the layout. Also, the bottom right can feature a big embellishment or even a second photo if you prefer. The fun thing about using a sketch is making it your own!My layout using the sketch is shown below. If you want to share, link to your layout inspired by this sketch in the comments.
