Hey there ladies! It is Tuesday...Technique Tuesday at Mosh Posh. And today I am going to share how I created the paper flowers on my November layout, "Tiny Princess." First, here is a look at the paper flower that I created on my layout...
So versatile, don't ya think? I can see them on a fall layout, like I designed here, spring, or summer layout. Here are the steps I take to create my paper flowers...
Step 1: Gather supplies: double-sided patterned paper, paper trimmer, crop-a-dile, brad, and cutsie center embellishment.
Step 2: Cut paper to desired length depending on the size appropriate for placement on your layout. The thickness is also optional, but I usually cut the strips to 1/2 an inch thick. I also tend to use 5 strips to make a flower.
Step 3: Punch a hole in both sides of each strip.
Step 4: Loop the strips to where both holes meet and insert a brad to hold the strips together.
Step 5: Add an embellishment to give a finished look and to cover the overlapping paper.
Ok...there ya have it...S-I-M-P-L-E! These really are easy and I just love how the paper you choose can be the perfect complement to your layout. Nothing upsets me more than to be in the "scrappy groove," and not be able to find a flower or other embellishment to match what I have going. If you use a paper flower like this, there would be no worries! Hope everyone is having a wonderful day and Happy Early Thanksgiving!
So, here on the Mosh Posh Blog, Mondays are all about how to get your scrapping on without too much stress or time. We like to call it "Manic Mondays". Funny, but whenever it's my turn to do the post on Monday I get stressed and I feel rushed about it... because for real, Mondays ARE manic and I usually have 50 million things on my to-do list! I rarely scrap (or blog... LOL) on Mondays because I'm just way to busy to get creative. :)
With that in mind, I came up with a little bit of inspiration for you this Monday. It's a little technique called "hunt and gather". You probably know what I'm talking about... but let me explain. When you are too busy and time is not your friend, act like a hungry multi-tasking klepto squirrel (does that make sense?). Gather your nuts all throughout the day so that at the end of the day (or week) you will be ready. Just dig through your stash of supplies, your photos, your ribbon, your notebook of sketches (you have one of those, I hope!), and grab a scrap sheet of paper to write journaling prompts.
Now, find a bare surface or empty bin/basket in your house. If you're like me, claim a section of the kitchen counter or dining room table and start gathering there. Your husband will LOVE this! If you're sitting at your computer at work, create a mental pile. The point is to think about the layout and plan it out before you begin.
For each pile of "nuts" you have one layout. Gather them slowly throughout the day or week, whenever you have time. Each pile should eventually contain everything you need for each layout. Think of it as a mini kit that you're building from your larger kits and personal stash. As you gather, be thinking of title ideas and even your journaling... add those to the pile, too! THEN, when you have the time all the silly gathering work has already been accomplished. Just grab your pile and get to work. I do this and it saves me a ton of time. :)
TIP: When your piles of "nuts" are driving you nuts, just stick them in those handy dandy gallon zip-lock baggies your Mosh Posh kits come in. Then, stick those baggies in the shipping box. BUT I don't suggest creating so many piles that you end up putting them away and forgetting about them. Try to only have two piles at a time... and start building your layout the first chance you get to scrap!
Happy gathering!!!
My current pile:
Hey! That looks a lot like the December kit! Hmmm... maybe because it IS the December kit?

November is one of those months that just makes me thankful. I get excited planning a Thanksgiving meal for my family and it just makes me more mindful of all of the wonderful things that I have in my life.
My challenge to you is to create a Thank You card. Any size. Any style. You just do what you do best. Leave a comment here with a link to your card so I can check it out. You have until Friday (November 20) at 11:00AM CST to link your card. (I will announce the winner that same afternoon)
Our one lucky winner will win this collection of journaling spots. Journaling is, to me, the most important part of my layouts. The story behind the photo is the whole reason that I scrapbook. With these journaling spots, you will be able to tell your story!
Tomorrow we will be having another blog hop, so I hope that you will stop by tomorrow! Happy Wednesday!

This month's Mosh Posh Gallery was full of inspiring Home Decor projects! I was amazed by all of the different styles that were created using the same products. The above garland was created by Frances Sylvia. I love how she used the cool Cosmo Cricket letters.
You saw this wall hanging already in my post about our wonderful Guest Designer, Linda Albrecht. There is just so much to love about it, I don't know where to start. I think that the stitching and those tall flowers are my favorite.
Linda also created these for us this month! Aren't they just gorgeous!! I am thinking of taking a similar approach for some Christmas ornaments. I just love how she layers.
Jenny Dziekan created this garland and I just love how she attached the pumpkins with ribbon. I also love that she thought to include a picture. Why didn't I think of that?
If you hopped along with us yesterday, you already saw these too cute for words pumpkins that Brook Magee created. Um, hello! The girl can paint!
This is the garland that I created using felt and patterned papers. I totally cheated and connected my leaves with staples!
Have you created any home decor items using Mosh Posh kits??? If so, leave a comment here or email them to me at EsteeLynn(at)gmail(dot)com. I would love to feature some of our amazing readers on the blog next week. If you have any amazing layouts to share, send them along too!! We would love to see what you guys are creating!
We will be back on Monday with a whole new GIVEAWAY for you, so have a great weekend and we will see you on Monday!! :)

Our Guest Designer for November is none other than the talented Linda Albrecht. She really rocked our November kit!
I love those journaling strips and her little hand cut bird! So sweet!
My favorite thing about Linda is her sense of design in terms of shape. She is able to use so many shapes on her layouts and it all blends so effortlessly. She is definitely an inspiration. Thanks, Linda, for being part of our team this month!!
Be sure to check out the Mosh Posh gallery to see all of our November projects. What was your favorite this month? Is it even possible to choose?
