Falling in love with the February kit!

Well, the darling February kit has been sitting on my table for a few days now... it's still in the ziplock bag all nice and neat. The kit is calling to me... in moo's, oinks, and baa's. It's saying: "I can PEAR-ly wait for you to(mato) cut me up!". ;) But, I haven't had the heart to cut up the papers yet. LOL. I like to stare at it (and lovingly stroke the embellishments) for a while and think out my layouts before I start digging in. :) Am I weird?

Anyways, I realized this morning that the website doesn't have a sneak peek of the kit up yet and usually by now we give you a little taste of what's to come. You all have NO IDEA what goodness is in store for you. Not a clue! :) So, because I'm nice and stuff, I decided I should take matters into my own hands and give you a sneak of the kit.

It's kind of like a puzzle, but I'm sure you will figure it out. ;)

Thinking "Valentine's Day"

Love is Sweet Card

Is there anyone else out here that's already thinking about Valentine's Day? I sure hope I'm not the only one! When I saw the adorable cupcake paper that was included in this month's kit I immediately started thinking about what I could use it for...and I ended up creating a fun little valentine by cutting out a couple of the cupcakes, adding a bit of bling and glitter and making my own three dimensional embellishment by adhering my cupcakes to a cut out circle and adding a bit of twine. I added a bit of stamping that seemed appropriate to my theme along with some paper strips and I was done! Since there are a ton more cupcakes on that sheet of paper I'm thinking I'll be able to make up some more of these quick and easy cards!

Love is Sweet Card

Wishing you a "sweetheart" of a day!

Get more out of your kit!

Laina here today! I have a confession to make...After I make a few pages from my monthly kit, I rarely go back and use the leftover scraps. Sure, I say I'm keeping them for later but somehow I always end up moving on to another project. I hate to throw anything away, so needless to say my leftovers pile is really starting to pile up. This year I have vowed not to let that happen. While the paper and "design" style is is still fresh in mind, I will use up all those beautiful bits of paper!

This month after creating my pages for our gallery I kept my kit out and whipped up four more "blank" pages to have on hand for quick pages or to give as gifts to others. I left room for 4x6 photos since those are my typical print size. I even made 4 simple cards from the smaller scraps.

I did add one sheet of Basic Grey stickers I already had on hand plus extra cardstock pieces. Other than that, everything else was made from the January kit and addons. So my challenge to you is to join me and use up those beautiful kits Kristen puts together for us.

Cupcake-inspired Paper Flowers Tutorial

I was so inspired by the adorable cupcakes on the Basic Grey Nook & Pantry paper in this month's kit!

It got me thinking... how about using a paper cupcake liner to create a one-of-a-kind flower for one of my layouts? So, I grabbed a package of them and after some experimenting I made one... here are the instructions so you can try it out for yourself. :) (click image to enlarge instructions)

My finished result:

PS: Aluminum or patterned cupcake liners would make this project even cuter! Or, try stamping the paper first to add a pattern. You can even spray your finished flower with glimmer mist to give it color & shimmer. Try it! It's fun. :)

Have a great weekend!

It's that time of year...........

CHA is the best time of year for us arts and crafts gals.  I have been keeping up with all the peeks using The Scrap Review website, and here are just a few of my fave things I've seen so far!

First up, these gorgeous flowers from Maya Road.  I MUST HAVE THESE ASAP!

And then there's this:

because I'm a mist finatic, I can't wait to try this out.  Such possibilities!!

These next sneaks are just a few that caught my eye.  First up, Two Chicks Designs.  I love that they are offering color coordinated embellishments all in one package.  How easy and perfect is that?

Next up, I am in love with the Lily Bee Lovely line.  Sigh........

This new line from KI Memories has totally caught my eye:

I can totally see myself using this new line from Scrap Within Reach.

I have to say, my favorites of all are Cosmo Cricket with their new cardstock:

I'm loving what I've seen of Pink Paislee as well.

What have you seen that you love??  Be sure to let us know here, so Kristen can get started on ordering your fabulous kits!!!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Tuesday Tip: Clustering Those Embellishments

one of a kind girl

Aren't all those American Crafts chipboard frames included in this month's kit just simply adorable? They are perfect for housing mini-photos in, journaling, titles and even plain old patterned paper! Sometimes when designing a page you just need to keep it simple and that's what I tried to do when creating this layout featuring a photo that shares just how silly and strong-willed as well as confident my daughter is at this age! Instead of over-thinking things (which I sometimes can do when in a design rut), I started putting my frames over the striped sheet of Basic Grey paper that was in the January kit and discovered that I like how it looked! I clustered two frames and some of the fabric covered brads that I overlapped over flowers from my stash and put them all together and found that it added just enough interest to my page without taking away from my photo.

I loved the little fabric covered brad with the pear on it for this layout too...kind of fit in with my idea of being unique, seeing that it's the only 'food item' on the page, it seemed to work!

Be sure to check out the Mosh Posh Gallery to see how the other designer's used the American Crafts chipboard frames!

January Sketch

Good morning Mosh Posh friends. Laina here today with my very first Mosh Post blog post. I am so very excited to be a part of this community and really look forward to getting to know some new scrapbooking enthusiasts like myself. We would like to make the next 6 months the best ever here at the site, so please let us know what you would like to see and learn from us.

To start off the new year, here is the January Sketch to get you started. After looking at the January Kit, we decided to to theme all of our layouts around the idea of "cozy".

Here is what the team came up with in their interpretations of the sketch...
